An established part of military and civilian life, concert parties thrived on active service. Kate Wills, an authority on the subject, has compiled a database listing 1,000 concert party groups of the Great War and the names of about 3,000 performers. Her talk will show that amongst the horrors of war, mirth and music boosted morale and provided much-needed respite.
