Based on his book of the same name (published by The Old Leodiensian Association in 2015), John Davies tells how the Great War – which claimed the lives of 130 old boys – profoundly affected Leeds Grammar School and how it influenced the education offered there before, during and after the war.
The photograph, courtesy of The Grammar School at Leeds, shows the 1912 School First XV rugby team. Every member of the team served in the war. Four were killed, two were seriously wounded and invalided out of the army and another two lost siblings in the conflict.
