‘Thank God I Am Trying To Do My Little Bit’, is editied by Ken Waymen from the pencil-written letters of Private Jim Elwell of the 7th Suffolks.  The letters comprise fifty-three greetings cards, field service postcards and letters. Jim Elwell is the archetypal civilian soldier and this book covers his pre-service and service personas. The book is well illustrated with personal letters, postcards, and photographs. Ken Waymen edits the letters in professional way, adding details where appropriate.  This is a fine example of the difficult art of interpreting primary source documents.

The book production is of the finest quality and is a fine testament to a fine soldier.

This book would be a fine addition to the many exponents of Great War History.
