Kevin Galloway

Kevin was born in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, in 1958, and for over thirty years worked in the steel and heavy industries. Now working in Packaging and Logistics (Chemical) as a Production/Process/Warehouse and Maintenance Manager since being made redundant in August 2009.

Kevin's main area of interest is the West Yorkshire Regiment - in particular the 15/17th West Yorkshire Regiment, and the period between December 1917 till March 1919. His interest in the Great War stems from research into his Grandfather's war service some nine or ten years ago, although he has taken a keen interest in local history for a large number of years. He is currently researching the Thornaby War Memorial, and how the Great War affected the social aspects of everyday life in the Thornaby district.

Kevin has been married for 26 years. He has two daughters and one son. A recent addition to the family mean that Kevin and his wife are now the proud Grandparents of a beautiful baby Granddaughter.

Site news

The WFA's site is undergoing a major rebuilding programme at the moment. We are moving to a new, faster server, with a new version of the content management system that has powered the site successfully since 2008. We will introduce a slightly different look and feel to that currently.
You may spot the phrase "Warning: Illegal string offset 'active' in .... " on parts of the website. Do not be alarmed! These are simply alerts but they do not constitute a danger to you or your computer. They are the result of a recent (current) server software upgrade that means there is a minor issue when listings are generated.
The website content (and, for the most part, its structure) will be unchanged and is indeed being expanded and improved. Search will be much more able to find the material you want in a site of almost 4,000 articles, and we will make other improvements such as content tagging.
We hope the work will be complete by December 2014.
