ALLMANROEDER, Karl. (1896-1917)

ALLMANROEDER, Karl. (1896-1917). Leutnant. Victories = 30. Highest award = Pour le Merité/Blue Max (July 1916). Nickname = Karlchen.

Enlisted in the 62nd Field Infantry Regiment in August 1914 and served in Russia, Poland and Galicia on the Eastern Front.

Commissioned as Leutnant in March 1915.

Transferred to the GAAS in March 1916 and joined FA 227 and then Richthofen's Jasta 11 as a fighter pilot in November 1916.

Scored his first confirmed victory - a RAF BE 2c - on 16th February 1917.

His last victory was Nieuport Scout - shot down on 26th June 1917.

Allmanroeder was killed in action on 27th June 1917 whilst in aerial combat above Zillebeke, near Ypres, Belgium with Jasta 11: an effective career as fighter pilot of only just over four months and a shoot-down rate of a victory every 3.1. days.
