Description
Spielberg's film of Michael Morpurgo's story War Horse will be all the rage by February, so an appropriate time to hear about the realities. Jane introduced herself at the Festival of History. She is a mature student at Derby University, and a keen horsewoman. Jane writes “The working relationship between a soldier and his horse was based upon mutual trust and respect. It was nurtured by the British Army, because it made the combination a far more effective tool in warfare. This was in no way sentimental, but born out of a drive for economy, pragmatism and, above all, military success.”
