News from the Historial de la Grande Guerre (Museum of the Great War)

historial_de_la_grande_guerre_logoThe Historial de la Grande Guerre (in Péronne, Somme, Picardie), is a fine museum in a beautiful setting.

Below you will be able to download their recent newsletter.

Look out for the forthcoming exhibition Livens Large Gallery Flame Projector. Employed only ten times during the war - nine of which were on the Somme. It would seem that this bizarre weapon has been overlooked by historians to date.

It is planned that a replica of the Livens flame projector will be shown at the exhibition.

Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Livens_Projector.

The exhibition runs from 16 June to 30 November 2011.

If you joined the WFA at the "Who Do You Think You Are 2010" you will have met François Bergez, the Museum's Directeur délégué au développement (Executive director for development). We are hoping that François will be with us again in February at Olympia for the 2011 event.
