Mary and Betty do their Bit for WFA Wolverhampton

mary-betty-wfa-wolverhampton-2WFA Wolverhampton took a stand at the History Fair at Wolverhampton Archives on Saturday, 8 October 2011.

The lady on the left of the photograph is Betty Carter. On the display board (please see full pic below) I have put a couple of articles about Tommy Barrett VC, South Staffs Regt.

Betty`s father, Lt-Col William Carter recommended Tommy Barrett for the award. Lt-Col Carter was Tommy`s CO in the South Staffs.

Lt-Col Carter was awarded the DSO, and MC and Bar

Betty comes on our branch trips, and she had a photo taken by Tommy`s grave at Essex Farm Cemetery, (picture of which is on the display board as well).

I hope this will be of interest to you.

Best wishes

Mrs Mary Gough
Publicity Officer
The Wolverhampton Branch of The Western Front Association.
ps I am the one on the right in the picture.
