Commemorating the arrival of The Unknown Warrior at Victoria Station, 10 November 2010

victoria_station_unknown_warrior_10_nov_2010The photographs show the Annual Ceremony to commemorate 90th anniversary of  the arrival of The Unknown Warrior (The Unknown Soldier) at Platform 8 at Victoria Station on 10 November 1920.

A Guard of Honour stayed overnight with The Unknown Warrior at Victoria prior to his journey via the Cenotaph to Westminster Abbey the following day on 11 November 1920.

Each year on 10 November at about 8.15 pm there is a wreath laying ceremony conducted by the WFA's London Branch at Victoria Station to commemorate the event.

You can read about the initial inauguration of the ceremony and the laying of the plaque at this link: WFA Commemoration of The Unknown Warrior's arrival at Victoria Station.
