The photograph above shows Highworth and St Lawrence Church, Lechlade, event when WFA Chairman Paul Cobb spoke on 'Lechlade and the Great War 1914-18' It was attended by 90 people and a collection made £200 for Combat Stress.

The talk started with a summary of the position in Europe in summer 1914 then looked at the progress of the war 1914-16, the home front, then 1917-19, POW and commemoration (medals, memorial plaques, Silver War Badge etc) afterwards. Along the way it included details of Lechlade men killed/DOW. The talk was illustrated with many photos and maps.

The event form part of the parish weekend of commemoration.
