Gunners Mate 2nd Class Earl Grigsby, US Navy .
Born at New Palestine, Hancock County on November 24th 1889, Earl enlisted in the USN on 7 May 1917 at Indianapolis. After training at Norfolk, Virginia, he was sent to the Naval Hospital in New York before being assigned to duty on board the USS Cyclops. He was posted missing at sea on 14 January 1918.
