24009 Pte Thomas Wilfred Chester, 8th Bn Duke of Wellington's (W Riding) Regiment.
The son of Mr.William Chester from Millhill, Gargrave, Thomas was 22 years of age when he was killed in action (one of 17 casualties from the battalion on this day, whilst holding the front line in the vicinity of Beaumont). Thomas has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing.
