3 February Capt Reinfred Tatton Arundell

Born in Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devonshire in December 1879 and educated at Exmouth, Marlborough College and Sandhurst, subsequently commissioned in August 1899 to the Leicester Regiment. Promoted Lieutenant in June 1900, he was transferred to the Indian Army in February 1903 and took part in the Tibet campaign of 1903/4. Due to ill health, he retired on half pay in 1908 and was promoted to captain, rejoining the active list in October 1909.

Reinfred was killed by machine-gun fire whilst leading his company against the Turks who were attacking the Suez canal. He is now buried in Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
