Sgt Frank Melvin Etter, CoC 339th Infantry Regt US Army was born on 25 November 1893.
A travelling salesman, he enlisted into the army on 17 May 1917 at Pittsberg, Pensylvania, initially serving in the Medical Detachment before being transferred to CoC of the 339th Infantry. Frank was sent overseas in July 1918 and, in August, he went to the Russian front where he was wounded in action in January 1919. He died of these wounds in hospital in Archangel, Russia and his body was repatriated. He now lies buried in IOOF Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
