9 February 2/Lt Harry Clayton Alban

9-feb-1915-2-lt-harry-clayton-alban_2/Lt Harry Clayton Alban, 1/PoW's Leinster Regt was born in Mandalay, Burma on 28 June 1892.

Educated at Christ's College, Horsham, he enlisted into the 1st R Inniskilling Fusiliers in India upon leaving school, returning to the UK with the battalion upon the outbreak of war. Harry was corporal by the time the battalion arrived in the UK and, in Sept 1914, he received a commission into the Leinsters. On 9 February 1915, he was killed by a shell whilst entering the trenches and killed instantly. His body was brought to the rear and buried in Dickebusch churchyard.
