15 March Lt Walter Henry Charles Cave

Walter was born on 15 March 1895 at Bristol and was educated at Repton (where he left in August 1914 with the intention of going to Cambridge the following October). Having applied for a commission, he was gazetted to the Dorset regiment on 15 August 1914, joining them in Weymouth where he was to stay until 18 February 1915. On this date, he was sent to join the 1st Battalion in Flanders. On his 20th birthday, Walter was killed by a shell and was buried on the ramparts of Ypres the following day. His grave is still there today... Ramparts Cemetery, Lille Gate, Ypres.
