Pvt Wade Ellsworth Harris, 137th FAR, US Army.
Born at Elkhart on 24 April 1893, Wade enlisted into the Indiana National Guard (Co E, 3rd Infantry) on 5 August 1917. Trained at Camp Shelby, Miss, he transferred to Battery E of the 137th Field Artillery Regiment prior to being sent overseas in June 1918. After fighting in the 2nd Battle of the Marne, St.Mihiel and the Argonne Forest, he died in an accident in Germany on 27 April 1919 while serving as a member of the Army of Occupation.
