9 May Sdt Joseph Edouard Camille Gouzot

Born at Nancois-le-Petit (Meuse) on 2 October 1889 (‘class' of 1909), Joseph (re)enlisted into the army at Verdun after being recalled in August 1914. After partaking in the battle of the Marne in 1914, he then fought in the Champagne before being moved north to take part in the Second Battle of the Artois where he was killed in action on the first day of battle whilst his division was attacking at Roclincourt. Joseph's body was never identified and his grave is unknown.
