10 May Sdt Alois Mitterer

10_may_sdt_alois_mittererSdt (Ers Rez) Alois Mitterer, Kgl Bayerisches Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 16 (‘List') (12 Bav Res Bde, 6th Bav Res Div).

From Schern, Bavaria, 21 year old Alois served in this famous regiment throughout its campaigns in Flanders/Artois during 1914-15. He was killed in action in front of Fromelles (Rouges Bancs) whilst facing the British 8th Division during the Battle of Aubers (Second Artois) on 10 May 1915. Alois is now buried in the Kameradengrab of the Soldatenfriedhof at St.Laurent Blangy.
