Apprentice Seaman Augustus Verbarg, US Navy.
A boy sailor, Augustus was born at Pleasant Hill, Cass County on 29 June 1902. After attending school in Indianapolis, he enlisted into the US Navy as a 15 year old on 21 September 1917 and was sent to Brooklyn Naval Yards, New York where he died of disease on 18 May 1918. Place of burial unknown.
