Sgt Lawrence Glen Brown, 84th Divisional Med Det, US Army.
Born at Nashville on 26 January 1890, Lawrence was an Instructor at Cornell University when he entered service on 22 September 1917. After training at Camp Taylor, Kentucky and Camp Sherman, Ohio, he was assigned to the 84th Div Medical Detachment before receiving further instruction at Camp Mills, New York. Proceeding overseas in September 1918, he was attached to a front line medical unit, with which he was critically wounded in the Argonne in November 1918. He was still in hospital in France when he died, at Mesves Hospital Centre, on 23 May 1919. He is now buried in his home town.
