4 June 1916 Lieutenant Louis Antonio Beaubien

Born in Quebec on 23 February 1887, Louis was an accountant when he enlisted into the army on 10 November 1914. After previous service in the Canadian Militia (9th) where he held the rank of Captain, he was commissioned and sent overseas with the 22nd Bn CEF (Quebec Regt). On 4 June 1916, Louis' ‘C'company was holding a section of trench in the St Eloi sector when they came under bombardment by trench mortars and aerial torpedoes. He, along with another four other ranks, died in this bombardment and another nine were wounded. Louis is now buried in Reninghelst New Military Cemetery.
