7 June 1918 Pvt John Howard Barnes

Born 29 July 1876 at St Paul Decatur Cty, he enlisted into the army at Indianapolis on 11 May 1917 and, after training at Jefferson Barracks, was assigned to the 2nd Engineer Regiment with which he sailed for France on 6 September 1917. He was killed in action near Bourches on 7 June 1918 and was originally buried about 300 yds north of the church. John's body was repatriated to the USA post-war.
