24 June 1915 Sldt Edmond van Speibroek

Born at Oostakker on 21st September 1891, Edmond was the son of Aloïs and Leonie Mathys and was still living in Oostakker at the time of the German invasion in 1914. A Belgian Army reservist, he was re-called for service in August 1914, and was killed on the Yser front on 24th June 1915. Edmond now lies buried in the Belgian Military Cemetery at Hoogstade (grave number 120).
