15469 Pte Harry Proctor, 11th Bn East Lancs Regt.
Born in Keighley, Yorks in 1890, Harry was living at 13 Coultate Street, Burnley at the time of his enlistment into the ‘Burnley Pals' in September 1914. Proceeding overseas in December 1915, he saw service in Egypt (from January 1916) before moving to the Western Front and the Somme battlefields. A qualified machine-gunner, Harry was killed in action in front of Serre on the opening day of the Somme battle and now lies buried in Queen's Cemetery, Puiseux.
