4 July 1918 Pvt Leslie Thomas

Born in Michigan City on 1 October 1900, Leslie was an employee in a planing mill when he enlisted into Co G of the 1st Infantry, Indiana National Guard (151st Infantry Regiment) as a 16 year old on 9 July 1917. After training at Camp Shelby, Leslie was sent overseas to the 28th Infantry Regiment in May 1918 and he was killed in action at Cantigny on 4 July 1918. Originally buried in the American Cemetery at Cantigny, he was repatriated post-war.
