Cpl Clarence Emmett Brown, Co I, 39th Infantry Regt, US Army.
Born near Mechanicsburg, Boone Cty on 10 July 1895, Clarence was a painter by trade. He entered the US Army on 28 February 1918 at Lebanon, Indiana and, after training at Camp Greene, went to France in May 1918. On 19 July 1918 he was wounded in action and died of his injuries in Evacuation Hospital No 18 on 23 July. His body was repatriated and he is now buried in Lebanon.
