29 July 1918 Pvt William Robert Lee

29_july_1918_pvt_william_robert_leePvt William Robert Lee, Co K, 47th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division.

Born in October 1887 at Kennard, Henry County, William was a farmer who was drafted into service on 29 March 1918. Entering service at Newcastle, Indiana, he was trained at Camp Taylor as part of 3rd Company, 1st Training Battalion, 159th Depot Bde. He went overseas to Company K of the 47th Infantry in May 1918 and was killed in action at Chateau Thierry on 29 July.

He was buried soon afterwards in the American-French Cemetery at Chateau Thierry and now rests in the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery at Fere-en-Tardenois (plot A, row 5, grave 13).
