31 July 1917 Sdt Leopold Pfeifenthaler

From Oberwesterbach, Leopold was 22 years old when he was killed by a British hand grenade fragment just south of the Ypres-Comines Canal on the opening day of Third Ypres. Prior to his death, Leopold had served with the 8th Company on the Somme, Champagne, Galicia, Transylvania and back to the Western Front (Alsace) before moving to to Flanders in June 1917. He has no known grave.
