9 August 1915 Pte Percy Burton

From Radcliffe, Lancs, Percy was born in 1893. He enlisted, in Manchester, on 15 January 1915. A married man with one child, he went overseas (destination Gallipoli) on 1 July 1915  - landing at Helles on 21 July - and was killed in action, just over a short while later, on 9 August during an attack on Ismail Oglu Tepe. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
