17 August 1918 Pvt Hobart George Beach

From New Albany, Hobart was born on 11 September 1896. A farmer, he enlisted into the US Army (1st Cavalry, Indiana National Guard) on 9 May 1917 before being transferred to a replacement draft at camp Shelby and being sent to the 168th Infantry in France on 12 June 1918. He was wounded in action on 29 July and died in hospital near Paris on 17 August. He is now buried in Suresnes American Cemetery (plot B, row 6, grave 24).
