Pvt Anton Kasimer Mateski, Co B, 137th Infantry, 35th Division, US Army.
Born in Poland in 1889, Anton emigrated to the USA in 1900 and gained employment in the steel mills of Gary, Indiana. He was drafted into the army on 15 March 1918 and received traing at Camp Dodge before going overseas to the 137th Infantry in May 1918. He was killed in action in Alsace whilst his unit was under instruction from the French Army on 22 August 1918 and is now buried in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne (plot H, row 12, grave 31).
