18913 Pte John Robert Butterworth, ‘A'Coy, 1st Bn.East Lancashire Regiment.
From Hirst Street, Burnley, John enlisted in September 1914 and had served in France since June 1915. He died of wounds received during a bombardment of Hamel on 24 August 1915, aged 25, and is now buried in Forceville Communal Cemetery, France.
