From Schwaim, Josef was 38 years of age when he was killed by a rifle grenade near Clery (Somme) on 29 August 1916. He had seen previous service at Arras and the Artois and is now buried in the soldatenfriedhof at Rancourt (Somme): block 2, grave 208.
