Pvt George Ray Goudy, US Marine Corps.
Born at Kokomo, Indiana on 30 November 1899, George was a High School student when he enlisted into the USMC on 23 March 1917. After training at Parris Island, S Carolina, he was sent to France where he was attached to a Machine Gun battalion. Partaking in battle at Chateau-Thierry and Belleau Wood, he was killed in action during the drive at St Mihiel whilst carrying water to a wounded comrade on 15 September 1918. Initially buried at Jaulny, his body was repatriated post-war.
