97 S/Lt/ Andre Desire Bontemps, 67 RI.
Born on 1 December 1888 (Class of 1908), Andre was a recalled reserve officer who rejoined at Versailles in August 1914. After seeing action in the Battle of the Ardennes (August 1914) and the Marne (September), his regiment moved to the Woevre where they saw service at Tresauvaux and Les Eparges. Badly wounded in early October 1914, Andre died in Temporary Hospital Nr 1 in Verdun on 6 October. His grave location is unknown.
