17 October 1918 Pte Allan Crabtree

Living at 73, Oxford Road, Burnley at the time of his enlistment, Allan was an ‘unregistered Dental Mechanic' by trade. Enlisting in Aldershot on 28 August 1916, much of Allan's service was spent on Malta as a RAMC dental mechanic (with a brief stay of a couple of months with No 65 General Hospital in Salonika). In July 1918, he was sent to serve in Italy where he joined No 62 Gen Hospital at Bordighera but fell ill in October 1918. Allan was evacuated from the theatre to No 2 General Hospital at Le Havre, France where, on 17 October 1918, he died of bronchial pneumonia. He was 25 years of age and is now buried in Ste Marie Cemetery, Le Havre, France.
