13823 Cpl John Thomas Alderson, C Coy, 2nd Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).
Living, at the time of his enlistment, at 26 Brown Street, Burnley, John had served in France since July 1915 and had, for a time attained the rank of sergeant. Unfortunately, he was demoted in a Field General Court Martial on 29 November 1915 and was 28 years of age (and a corporal) when he was wounded in action near Trones Wood on the Somme. He died of these injuries on 30 October 1916 and is now buried in Grove Town Cemetery, France.
