29 November 1916 Pte David Dudgeon

29 November 1916 Pte David Dudgeon669539 Pte David Dudgeon, 4th Bn, Canadian Mounted Rifles (2nd Central Ontario Regt).

Born in Monaghan, Ireland, on 15 March 1873, David had had lived in Canada for 20 years and had served for eight years with the 48th Highlanders of Toronto and 15 months with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He enlisted into the 166th Battalion CEF in Toronto on 31 January 1916. Later transferred to the 83rd Battalion, he went overseas in April 1916 and had served at the front since the summer of the same year. On 27 November 1916, he was seriously wounded whilst on patrol near the ‘Lille Road', north of Ecurie (Arras front), dying in 30 CCS at Aubigny on 29 November. David now lies in the Communal Cemetery Extension at Aubigny.
