309 Pte George Samuel Knight, 1st Bn Newfoundland Regiment.
From St.John's, Newfoundland (where he was a member of the ‘Methodist Guards Brigade'), George was born in 1894 and, like Hubert Ebsary (kia 1 December 1915), enlisted into the Newfoundland Regiment on 7 September 1914. After spending some time in the UK, he was also sent to Egypt as part of the 29th Division on 20 August 1915 before landing at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli on 20 September. Killed in action at Suvla on 2 December 1915, George is now buried in Azmak Cemetery, Suvla.
