14 January 1917 Pte Edward Hale

Born at Preston, Ontario on 8 November 1895, Edward was a shoemaker by trade. Having had previous service in the 29th Regiment (Militia) for four months, he enlisted into the CEF at Guelph, Ontario on 17 May 1915. After arriving in France, Edward took part in the Battle of the Somme before he was returned to Canada (either wounded or sick) later in 1916 where he died on 14 January 1917. Edward is buried in Cambridge (Preston Public) Cemetery, Ontario.
