55464 Pte William John, 16th Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers.
Born at Tenby in 1886 ,William enlisted into the Pembroke Yeomanry (as 5397), but later transferred to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers (initially as 12069) whose 16th Battalion he joined in Belgium at some point in 1916 (its likely that he was part of a replacement draft following on from the heavy losses received at Mametz). William was killed in action in the Boesinghe sector near Ypres, on 15 January 1917 aged 33. He is buried at Essex Farm Cemetery.
