20 January 1917 Sdt Mathe Sichlmeier

From Mettenhaufen, Bavaria, Mathe was a recalled reservist who re-enlisted on 1 August 1914 and soon found himself embroiled in the Battle of the Frontiers where, near Loudrefeing on 20 August 1914, he was severely wounded by an exploding artillery shell. The next two and a half years were spent in various military hospitals and he finally died of his injuries, on 20 January 1917 in the Rez Lazarette at Nuremburg. Mathe was 30 years of age when he died. His burial place is unrecorded.
