Pvt James Williams, 301st Stevedore Regt, USAQM Corps.
Born at Shawneetown, Illinois in August 1889, James enlisted into the US Regular Army at Ft Thomas, Kentucky on 22 September 1917. After transferring to Newport News, Virginia, he was assigned to Co G of the 301st Stevedores with which he stayed until he died of disease at Newport News on 26 February 1918. He was survived by his wife and three children.
