Sgt Hugh Sloane, Battery C, 13th FAR, US Army.
Born 21 December 1898 at Syracuse, Kosciusko Cty, Hugh enlisted into the US Army at Chicago on 8 January 1917. Hugh trained at Jefferson Barracks, Fort Bliss and Camp Greene, and he was sent overseas in August 1918 as part of the 4th Infantry Division. He took part in the St Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives before returning to the USA in December 1918. He was then sent to Ft Leavenworth in Kansas where he died of pneumonia on 26 March 1919. Hugh is buried in his home town of Syracuse.
