3 April 1915 Dvr George West

3 April 1915 Dvr George West40729 Dvr George West, 3rd Bde CFA.

Born in Brixworth, Northamptonshire on 16 December 1878, George was a painter, living in Kingston, Canada at the time of his enlistment. Having previously served for three years in the 5th ‘Kingston' Battery, he enlisted into the CEF at Valcartier on 23 September 1914 and, soon afterwards, found himself transported to England to continue his training. George was killed in a motor-bus accident in Kent on 3 April 1915, soon before he was due to be sent on active service in Belgium, and he is now buried in Shorncliffe Military Cemetery, Kent.
