18 April 1918 Musician Eugene J Badina

18 April 1918 Musician Eugene J BadinaMusician 1st Cl Eugene J Badina, 336th Infantry Regt, US Army.

Born in Alsace, France in 1892, Eugene's family moved to Buffalo, New York, USA in 1894. By 1913, he was living in Elkhart, Indiana where he was employed as a professional musician. Drafted into the US Army on 22 September 1917, Eugene was sent to Camp Taylor, Kentucky for training with the 72nd Company, 18th Battalion of the 152nd Depot Brigade before being transferred to the regimental band of the 336th Infantry. Badly injured in a training exercise, he died of his injuries in the camp hospital at Camp Taylor on 18 April 1918 and is now buried in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Elkhart.
