24 April 1917 Pte Edward Harwood

24 April 1917 Pte Edward HarwoodGS/51615 Pte Edward Harwood, 13th Bn Royal Fusiliers.

Born in Blackburn, Lancashire in 1887, Edward was living at 25,Coultate Street in Burnley at the time of his enlistment. Originally enlisting in the East Lancashire Regiment (as 27798), he was transferred to the 13th Bn Royal Fusiliers immediately prior to being sent on active service. Edward was killed in action near Gavrelle during the Battle of Arras. He is buried in Chili Trench Cemetery, Gavrelle.
