1 May 1918 Pte Daniel Flynn

1 May 1918 Pte Daniel Flynn40123 Pte Daniel Flynn, 11th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers.

From Burnley, Lancashire, Daniel was living at 8, Hill Top Passage in the town at the time of his enlistment in 1916. Initially serving with one of the reserve battalions of the East Lancashire Regiment (with pre-war service in the Royal Navy) he was transferred , when sent on active service, to the 11th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers. Daniel saw service in France and Belgium. He was wounded and captured near Bapaume in March 1918 and he died of these wounds on 1 May 1918 at Stendale Hospital in Germany. He was 30 years of age and is now buried in Berlin South Western Cemetery, Germany.
