16 May 1915 Pte Alexander McIntyre

16 May 1915 Pte Alexander McIntyre29473 Pte Alexander McIntyre, 16th Bn CEF.

Born in Maybole, Ayreshire, Scotland on 16 March 1892, Alex was working as a labourer in Manitoba at the time of his enlistment. Formerly serving with the 91st Canadian Highlanders (nine months service), he enlisted into the CEF on 21 September 1914 and, via training in the UK, arrived in France in February 1915. Alex was killed in action whilst on recconaissance patrol near l'Epinette in the very early hours of 16 May 1915, his body being lost in no-man's land during the action. He is , therefore, commemorated on the Vimy Memorial.
